Police highlight ‘stranger danger’ at Panorama Primary School
WELTEVREDEN PARK – Police teach pupils important safety tips.
Pupils of Panorama Primary School were taught the importance of ‘stranger danger’ by the Honeydew Police and CPF.
The police and CPF visited the school on 2 March and 3 March to share imperative information on safety. Honeydew Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Karen Jacobs spoke to the children on the importance of remembering the police’s number. It was a brilliant sight when over 600 pupils put up their hands and signed 10111.

WO Jacobs emphasised that criminals or ‘baddies’ can be of any colour, gender or age. The pupils learned that if you do not know a person well, they are a stranger and you must not talk to them or accept any sweets from them.
Joburg robots were brought to the forefront in order to illustrate when it is okay for someone to touch you. The head area is green which means it is okay; the shoulders to the pants line is orange and that means ‘be careful’– the pupils crossed their arms across their chest; and finally the hips down to the legs is a red light – a no-go area, and the pupils learned that this means ‘STOP!’

Honeydew CPF public relations officer Jon Rosenberg said, “The CPF and police want to take a proactive approach when handling the safety of school children. By teaching them valuable safety tips, we are safe guarding them even further.”
WO Jacobs and the police urged parents and guardians of pupils to be mindful of their children’s transport after school. “Many pupils are left waiting outside the school for hours and this also puts their safety at risk,” she added.
