Three arrested after high-speed chase
Thrilling high-speed chase ends with criminals behind bars
Three suspects aged 25, 27 and 29 were arrested after they had robbed Bismillah Supermarket in Florida.
The suspects barged into the store yesterday afternoon (3 July) and forced customers and staff members to lie on the ground. One of the suspects told a staff member to open the cash register while another suspect pointed a pistol at the person’s head. The suspects emptied the cash register, taking an undisclosed amount of money. However, the staff member slyly pressed the panic button while the criminals were distracted.
APCAN Security immediately responded and arrived on scene, but the suspects were able to make it into their getaway vehicle, a white Polo Playa. A high-speed chase between the suspects and the security officers ensued on the streets of Florida.
As the security officers were gaining ground on the getaway vehicle, the suspects lost control of their vehicle and crashed into a tree on the corner of Ontdekkers Road and William Nicol Drive. The security officers immediately blocked off the suspects’ escape routes and apprehended them.
Florida Police members arrived on scene and arrested them. Florida Police spokesperson Lydia Dikolomela confirmed the incident and said the suspects will appear in the Roodepoort Magistrates’ Court later this week.
