Zee TV Miss South Africa crowned in Jozi

JOBURG – Gold Reef City's Lyric Theatre welcomed a new Queen to the country.

The Zee TV Miss India South Africa 2016 pageant was held early in December at Gold Reef City’s Lyric Theatre in Johannesburg.

The pageant, which celebrated its Jubilee this year, saw mechanical engineer, Supriya Soorju, from the University of Cape Town walk off with the title. The bubbly Zee TV Miss India South Africa 2016 said, “I am grateful for this opportunity as I feel that Miss SA India provides young women with a positive role model and encourages female empowerment.

“I am excited to embark on this journey and I hope that I can use this platform to make a positive difference.”

The two runners-up crowned were Alisha Authbehari as first princess, and second princess, Aishwarya Bedesy.

“Zee TV is proud to be a part of this successful event. Thanks to all the contestants that took part in the competition. I would like to congratulate the winners, you have made your communities proud,” said Harish Goyal, Zee TV Africa chief executive officer.

Since Zee TV officially became the naming sponsor of the pageant last year, the beauty competition has skyrocketed to success. With a full turn out at Gold Reef City, audiences were left dazzled by the combination of talent, brains and beauty personified by the 18 finalists.
