Roodepoort Athletics Club’s friendly barman Conrad Con-man de Buys took in the beautiful scenery of the Len Rutter Park as he completed his 50th Park Run. He reached his milestone this weekend at the Florida Park Run. He was not alone, as Emile Fitzmaurice also completed his 50th run. Con-man celebrated by taking a walk instead of running, and was accompanied by his wife Antoinette and his Roodies clubmates who commemorated the day. They crossed the finish line singing songs and creating a festive atmosphere. Con-man started participating in park runs four years ago during winter and wanted to continue keeping fit.
“It was after the Comrades Marathon and I was bored. So I decided to try park runs to remain active so its great to finally get 50 with all of my friends here supporting me,” said the Con-man.
Emile started park runs in December last year, after moving to Johannesburg. Since then, he has participated in park runs in Durban and the Western Cape.
“It is a lovely way to keep fit, and my wife and I have enjoyed seeing the country’s lovely parks. Unfortunately my wife could not celebrate the milestone as she was injured and couldn’t complete her 50th park run,” he said.
