Update: Missing Roodepoort toddler found

She was found after a lengthy search

The two-year-old toddler, Abukwe Huwane, who went missing on 12 April, has been found.

According to Captain Juanita Yorke, the police were informed that a toddler had gone missing from Durban Deep on  13 April.

“Members from Sector 2 of the Roodepoort Police, the Johannesburg West K9 Unit, the Family Violence Child Protection Unit and the Roodepoort Community Policing Forum were joined by sixty patrollers from various neighbourhood watches, as well as the South African Support Initiative to conduct a search in the area,” she said.

Yorke confirmed that the toddler was found in the Dobsonville policing area, and said, “An investigation into the matter is currently underway.”

She concluded by urging community members to ensure that they know where their children are at all times, to prevent a repeat of this kind of incident.
