Harnessing stress with Hirsch’s and Kathy Mann
Channeling energies correctly is vital to mental and physical health
Hirsch’s Home Store Strubens Valley held its monthly Women In Business networking event on Tuesday, 12 November. The event gives local businesswomen an opportunity to showcase themselves and their products as well as meet like-minded entrepreneurs.
Special guest at the event was author of Avoiding Burnout: The Seven Principles of Self-Preservation, Kathy Mann. The inspiration for the book came from Kathy’s journey of recovery after falling ill due to stress. Kathy was a business owner, ultra-marathon runner, mother and wife but was channelling her energies in the wrong way, leading to a stress-induced autoimmune disease.
“Stress is not something that can be dominated, suppressed or avoided. It is possible to learn how to harness it, however. In understanding the way our brains and bodies react in supporting us through stressful situations, we can learn to embrace stress and use it to our advantage,” a passionate Kathy explained.
Attendees of the networking event were treated to refreshments and a lucky draw. If you would like to join Hirsch’s networking events, please contact Marjone Barnard at marjone@hirschs.co.za or call 083 456 5387.
