Roodekrans Neighbourhood Watch and residents of surrounding suburbs to hold Saturday night vigil for victims of Covid-19
"We have lost one of our committee members and area leaders as a result of Covid-19."

As the numbers of confirmed cases of Covid-19 increase, inevitably so do the numbers of those who have succumbed to the virus. Even though every South African has been affected, some have paid the ultimate price. Roodekrans Neighbourhood Watch (RNW) is teaming up with residents to show support for those dealing with tragedy.
On the evening of Saturday 25 July, RNW will hold a drive-by vigil to show support for anyone who has lost a loved one during this unprecedented pandemic. They will gather from 6.30pm before departing at 7pm on a route that will snake through Wilro Park and Breaunanda before moving into Helderkruin.
They will then cruise down to Poortview before finishing up in the streets of Roodekrans.Martin Lombard, Head of Patrollers for RNW, explained the inspiration for the vigil, saying, “We have lost one of our committee members and area leader as a result of Covid-19. This is in memory of him, who wholeheartedly served his community in terms of safety and conservation. We have lost so many residents due to this virus. People must understand that there are patrollers and responders risking their lives protecting the community in this very trying time.”
A full list of the streets on the route is available on the Wilro Park/ Helderkruin/ Roodekrans Community Network Facebook page.
Residents of these street are encouraged to light a candle and stand outside outside to acknowledge the passing convoy out of respect for their fallen neighbours. For additional information, please contact Martin on 0762116148 or the RNW operations room.
