Wilro Lions donate to CANSA

The kits contain everything a child will need when going to hospital for treatment

Members of the Wilro Park Lions Club did their bit to help alleviate the discomfort in young cancer patients when they donated some comfort kits to the Cancer Association of South Africa (CANSA).

Sandy van Heerden, the Club’s president said, “We delivered 24 comfort kits to Isobel Gomes from CANSA West Rand, in a bid to help the youngest in our society battling this disease”.

She added that the kits contain everything a child will need when going to hospital for treatment, and said, “The kits include a small blanket, scarf, beanie, face mask, face cloth, soap, toothbrush, toothpaste, cream, lip balm, a toy, poetry book, storybook or colouring-in book and crayons. These items provide them with some comfort and security.”

Sandy said one of their Pillars of Service is Paediatric Cancer, and that they decided to do something that will help make a difference in the lives of children with cancer. “I sincerely thank members of our community who are kindly helping us to help others. We are grateful for each and every donation which make our projects possible. Always choose kindness!”

People who can help with donations, or want to sponsor a comfort kit, can contact Sandy on 083 564 6388.

She concluded by saying, “You can make a difference in the life of a child with cancer. Thank you for helping us to help others!”
