Beauty skills development programme for youth in Roodepoort and surrounds
Those who complete the programme will be placed at other Ellies beauty branches, or may start their own businesses under Elizabeth's mentorship.
As the country continues to battle to provide all young people with employment, unemployment remains one of the big motivators and activators of crime. When some of the youngsters become bored, and lack money to afford day to day essentials, they sadly resort to crime.
The youth has become so demotivated that some resort to drug abuse and other negative things, which often result in teen pregnancy. The Covid-19 pandemic has made the situation worse.
Ellies Beauty Studio has come up with a skills development programme to empower young people, especially women, with beauty skills.
The free skills programme will include nail technology, make-up, eyelashes, hair extensions and massages.
The aspiring beauticians will be empowered and do practicals whilst preparing to either start their own businesses or be employed.
According to the founder of Ellies Beauty Studio, Elizabeth Nchabeng, there is a limited number of bursaries available for aspiring beauticians’ training.
“We are looking for hardworking individuals who have a passion for beauty; these include school dropouts and matriculants who are struggling to find work,” said Elizabeth.
Those who complete the programme will be placed at other Ellies beauty branches, or may start their own businesses under Elizabeth’s mentorship.
Graduates are also referred to the National Youth Development Agency (NYDA) for entrepreneurship workshops. Those seeking funding and mentorship after completing the beautician course, are also welcome to communicate with the NYDA.
Members of the community who need more information can call or WhatsApp 076 540 9046 or send an email to elliesbeautystudio@gmail.com. Preference will be given to the youth in the Roodepoort and surrounding areas.
