CANSA helping the community pay it forward
CANSA will aim to hold the market on the last Friday of every month and the public are urged to contact them to donate any clothes or household items that could benefit someone in need.

For every accessory and appliance that has seemingly lost its shine to its current owner, there is someone out there who would treat it like gold. Cancer Association of South Africa (CANSA) is helping unused items find new homes through their new monthly market, the first of which was held on Friday, 28 August.
Spreading the joy with the spirit of ‘pay it forward’, CANSA assembled a parking lot full of donated clothes and household appliances. Still in immaculate condition, all items were snapped up at a rate of knots as quality clothes exchanged hands for as little as R10. “People have been walking out with boxes full of things,” said Isabel Gomes from CANSA West Rand.

Several volunteers were on hand to assist, including members of Wilro Park Lions, driving home the theme of the day. “This is all about helping CANSA pay it forward and helping them continue to provide their services. Every little bit helps,” said Sandy van Heerden.

All funds raised go directly to CANSA as they continue their efforts to keep the doors open in order to provide quality assistance to those dealing with cancer. Along with hiring medical equipment, they are able to provide tests for both men and women. A prostate-specific antigen (PSA) test is available for R190 and a breast examination and Pap smear can be done for just R350.
