The City of Johannesburg (CoJ) and JOSHCO Housing have opened applications for subcontractor positions on the new sewer upgrade project in Ward 84.

Only small, medium and micro enterprises (SMMEs) whose members reside in Ward 84 are invited to apply for the position. Successful applicants will work under Shomang Construction (the primary contractors). This forms part of the City’s aim to increase job opportunities through the Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP).

Applications close on Thursday, 8 October and the following valid documents need to be submitted:
• CIDB (Construction Industry Development Board) certificate or CE (Civil Engineering) grading
• Letter of good standing with COIDA (the Compensation for Occupational Injuries and Diseases Act 130 of 1993)
• Tax clearance certificate
• Company registration documents and company profile
• Copies of the ID(s) of the company’s director(s)
• Proof of residence of the director(s) (such as a recent municipal utility bill)
• Latest CSD (Central Supplier Database) report
• A competent person that will sign work on the company’s behalf (Certified Plumber)
• UIF Certificate of Compliance will be an advantage

The appointment of the subcontractors and EPWP workers is subject to the acceptance of the aforementioned certificates and documents.

All applications need to be submitted to Mr Keaobaka Monoko at the JOSHCO Housing Building site, behind Shoprite Roodepoort. Mr Monoko is the Community Liaison Officer (CLO) for the project and can be contacted for further information on 078 687 2566.

Applicants must live within Ward 84, and if details have already been submitted, there is no need to resubmit.
