Hoërskool Roodepoort matriculants celebrate their last school days in style
With prelims commencing soon, the learners wore Pantsula and Vintage clothing to commemorate their last normal school days.
With prelims starting soon, the Hoërskool Roodepoort Class of 2026 celebrated their last days of normal school classes through Legacy Week.
Through Legacy Week, learners took part in a series of fun dress-up days, including Pyjama Day, Gender-Swap Day, a traditional wedding mock ceremony, and a Pantsula and Vintage Wear day.
According to the school’s marketing officer, Aletheia Louw, Legacy Week is aimed at celebrating the learners and reflecting on their journey at the school, while wishing them well as they prepare for their upcoming prelims and final examinations.

She said the initiative also allows the learners to celebrate their final days of school on a high note and create lasting memories with their classmates.
Speaking to the Roodepoort Record, learners said they were feeling emotional about reaching the end of their school journey but were ready to take on the upcoming examinations after months of hard work and preparation.

“It is an emotional day as today is our last day of normal classes. I’m ready for the upcoming exams, and I believe that consistency is the key. I’m aiming for three distinctions in Tourism, Consumer Studies and Economics,” said Teagan Narris.
For Mercedes Fregoner, her time at the school has been a remarkable journey filled with memorable moments shared with her schoolmates.

She said she hopes to continue her studies and pursue opportunities abroad, with plans to work as an au pair overseas.
“I’m planning to focus more on Life Sciences and maybe earn a distinction in English and Afrikaans,” she said.
