Beagle Watch Armed Response has heeded the call of one of their clients and accepted the Spin-a-Thon challenge from Laerskool Horison.
During the national lockdown, many people were without work and a lot of them could not pay their school fees, which ultimately meant there was less money to pay teachers’ salaries. So Laerskool Horison decided to organise a Spin-a-thon, where they challenged community members and neighbouring schools to see which team could ride the furthest distance in the allotted time, thereby promoting a healthy competitive and community spirit.
The security company graciously donated R5 000 to the school’s fundraising initiative, and said that they would be at the school on both days to provide security assistance. “The Spin-a-Thon is for a good cause as the school is hoping to raise much-needed additional funds in these challenging economic times. Beagle Watch is therefore happy to support this initiative with a cash donation,” said André Aiton, the security company’s director.
Beagle Watch is now challenging other business and security companies in Roodepoort to come forward and support the worthy cause.
“Schools are an important investment in our country’s future, and we therefore fully support them,” concluded André.
The Spin-a-Thon will be held on Friday, 6 November and Saturday, 7 November at Laerskool Horison. Teams of four people will have two hours and one spinning bike to see how far they can ride, and there are amazing prizes for the winners.
Times for Friday are as follows:
• Session 1: 2pm to 4pm
• Session 2: 4.30pm to 6.30pm
Times for Saturday are as follows:
• Session 1: 8am to 10am
• Session 2: 10.30am to 12.30pm
If you are unable to participate in the Spin-a-Thon, you can sponsor a team – either by a once-off payment, or per kilometre they ride.
