Help a young performing arts star take her place at the National School of Arts

Storm received her provincial colours in performing arts earlier this year

Of all the travesties of this lost year, the greatest must be the hole left in the dreams and aspirations of the youth.

Either through lack of opportunities or the severing of financial lifelines, boundaries to greatness have grown higher and wider. Storm Venter is a 13-year-old Monument Primary learner who, through her musical and performing talents, has earned a place at the prestigious National School of Arts in 2021. Sadly, the fallout from the state-imposed lockdown has put that in jeopardy.

Storm received her provincial colours in performing arts earlier this year and has been selected to represent South Africa in the Talent America competition to be held virtually in mid-December. Sadly, her father was the victim of a Covid-19 related retrenchment and the funds needed to get Storm to her goal now seem out of reach. Her father has since set up a BackaBuddy campaign with their immediate goal being the Talent America registration fee which is R2 000, payable by the end of November.

Thereafter, Storm needs a further R13 000 for all the costs associated with taking her place at the National School of Arts. “When I told her that she got accepted, she burst into tears. She was so happy and excited about it. For her, it’s the first step towards making her dream a reality,” said her father.
