City Power technicians have once again found themselves being called out to the Florida area to restore electricity to the residents.
Residents of several parts of Florida were left disappointed when the scheduled load-shedding for the area ended on the evening of 17 January and their power was not restored.

According to City Power spokesperson, Isaac Mangena, while load-shedding was being implemented during the night, cables were stolen from the Florida Mechanical Workshop Feeder. As a result, the Florida/ Sentraal feeder was also damaged and will need to remain off until it is fully repaired.
As the area was also scheduled for load-shedding from 8am until 12.30pm today, 18 January, repairs and replacement of the cables could only begin later in the day. For safety reasons, City Power technicians are unable to work on repairs during load-shedding, so they needed to wait for it to end before they could start replacing the cables and repairing any damage.

As they have not been on site very long, an estimated time of restoration (ETR) could not be communicated, but Mangena stated that all information would be communicated to City Power customers as soon as he receives it.
The outage is currently affecting:
• Florida Lake
• Florida Glen
• Hamberg
• Georgina South
• Bergbron and surrounding areas
Isaac apologised for the inconvenience that the outage is causing but asked for residents to keep an eye on the City Power Twitter page (@CityPowerJhb) for updates. The Record will also provide an update once an ETR is communicated.
