Church prays for local police station
Clad in branded T-shirts, and armed with a gazebo, mic and speakers, the devoted congregants staged a praise and worship session outside the station and called out interested officers for a personal prayer over their health and job, and for protection.
Following their touching prayer for health workers and patients at Life Wilgeheuwel Hospital, the Frontline City Church members reached out to Honeydew Police Station on Saturday, 23 January, to pray for the men and women in blue as part of their ongoing frontline prayer outreach programme.
Clad in branded T-shirts, and armed with a gazebo, mic and speakers, the devoted congregants staged a praise and worship session outside the station and called out interested officers for a personal prayer over their health and job, and for protection.

Pastor Wendy Mckillop explained the purpose of offering their prayers to the station. “The majority of the community tend to judge the police members and they aren’t loved and appreciated as they should be. So we just wanted to take this opportunity to appreciate them, show our support and let them know that we stand with them in righteousness, and in any other way possible to fight crime in our community,” she explained.
With the programme set to continue, Pastor Hannes Wessels added that the aim is to go out as a church where the real need is, especially to the frontline of the fight against the pandemic, including the police stations and all other essential services.
He added that the prayer gatherings are part of their declaration that the churches are not dead, despite the temporary ban on church services by government, and that things can be done differently.
