Patients dissatisfied with Welties clinic staff

“We end up getting late for work or spending the whole day at the clinic. Sometimes we arrive at 7am and leave between 2pm and 3pm because they would start working after 10am,” she explained.

In a critical time when social distancing, avoiding large crowds and wearing a mask are highly mandatory, the Weltevreden Park Clinic allegedly has not been a good example of practicing these government regulations.

A number of disgruntled patients have accused the health facility of poor service in the form of working at a snail’s pace and lacking prioritisation of the ill.

A frequent visitor to the clinic, who shared her experience on condition of anonymity, told the Northsider that going to collect her medication at the clinic is a nightmare as nurses begin to work when it suits them.

“This has been happening for many months. We get to the clinic as early as 6.30am to be first on the queue. The clinic is supposed to start servicing us from 7.30am but that’s when the nurses arrive in dribs and drabs,” she claimed.

While most professionals can be late for various reasons and be excused, the patient claimed that instead of helping them after arriving late, some begin their day by having their food or going out to the shops to get some, leaving them unattended for hours.

“We end up getting late for work or spending the whole day at the clinic. Sometimes we arrive at 7am and leave between 2pm and 3pm because they would start working after 10am,” she explained.

Another patient alleged, “They saunter around, chatting among themselves, going to the shops to buy food and other such things. When eventually they start their work, it is very slow, and they complain about being short-staffed.”

She added that complaining about the matter isn’t any help as the staff deliberately sideline you and treat you even worse than normal.
