CV submission paints unemployment reality

So far, Mangena has received over 600 CVs to submit to retail businesses earmarked to trade at the new shopping centre on Boundary Road.

“This is what unemployment looks like in our communities.” These were the words of the Zandspruit Youth Forum chairperson and Community Liaison Officer for the Jackal Creek Corner Shopping Centre construction David Mangena after a large crowd of desperate job seekers came looking for jobs at the new complex recently.

This saddening reality prompted Mangena to appeal to leaders and local businesses to consider local labour when employing staff.

“I’m appealing to the leadership of both Wards 100 and 114 to engage businesses around their ward to start hiring locally. If we continue with this status we are going to end up being victims of crimes,” he said.

For those who missed the opportunity, he has encouraged residents with or without skills to submit their CVs at his office at 74 Marina Road in Zandspruit at Kealeboga Crèche.
