Personal trainer using Covid-19 scare as extra inspiration

“It has to be all in or nothing. You need to make that conscious decision to make a change.”

Peak physical fitness is a goal most have attempted to achieve yet few have ever reached.

Byron Krol is an internationally experienced personal trainer who specialises in sculpting bodies and pushing physical limits. For almost seven years, he has gone from Roodepoort to the south of England and back again, leaving aching muscles and satisfied customers in his wake. Returning just before lockdown, Byron is now running a home-based gym ready to cater to all body types.

Fitter and healthier than your average man, Byron’s experience shows that nobody is immune to the coronavirus and its effects. He spent much of late December on his back as he was struck down with pneumonia complications caused by Covid-19. “I started showing symptoms a few days before Christmas and then I needed to be hospitalised. I lost almost 10kg in one week,” recalled Byron.

While fully recovered, there are a few lingering issues that serve as a reminder of his unwanted Christmas present. “In hospital I had indescribable headaches and along with the fatigue, those sometime come back,” he said. “It is still important that we wear our masks and keep our social distance,” he advised.

While not the deciding factor, a physically fit body with a strong immune system goes a long way in avoiding the coronavirus and its effects. Byron offers a full dietary and training regimen that can be tailored to either gender, and can even be implemented online for those looking to limit contact. The intricacies of weight loss and muscle development are as detailed as the individual, demanding a hands-on approach.

The hardest part is taking the first steps but it becomes easier with a seasoned expert. “Many people get self-conscious about training in gyms and feel more comfortable with personal assistance,” he claimed. There is only one way however, as Byron advised, “It has to be all in or nothing. You need to make that conscious decision to make a change.”
