Residents invited to attend virtual CBP sessions
According to CoJ these sessions are hosted in order to encourage the community to get involved in the planning process, as well as to help the municipality understand residents' concerns regarding community issues and service backlogs in hopes of the City entities becoming more responsive and planning more effectively.

The City of Johannesburg will be hosting online community-based planning sessions for the different areas falling within their municipal reach until the end of February.
Residents have been invited to attend the meeting for their area and get involved in the planning session by providing feedback on suggested capital expenditure projects for their community. The CBP sessions will also allow residents to see what CoJ has planned for the 2021/ 22 financial year. According to CoJ these sessions are hosted in order to encourage the community to get involved in the planning process, as well as to help the municipality understand residents’ concerns regarding community issues and service backlogs in hopes of the City entities becoming more responsive and planning more effectively.
“The quality of municipal services affects you directly and on a daily basis. It is time to voice your concerns and needs, and make suggestions for our neighbourhood,” said Ward 83 councillor Florence Roberts. Ward 71 councillor, René Benjamin concurred, urging her residents to participate in the planning session. “If you want to get a project on the budget radar, this is the meeting you MUST attend,” she said in her statement.
Residents can bring forward their concerns relating to municipal spending on items including (but not limited to):
• Rates
• JMPD law enforcement
• Refuse collection
• Road issues, such as streetlights, upgrades and upkeep
• Water sanitation
• Sewerage system and water pipe upgrades
• Public open spaces
• Conservation
• Land use
• Municipal parks
• Storm water drain upgrades
• Securing electrical mini substations
“Your participation and inputs should capture your desired outcomes toward an improved quality of life for all in your neighbourhood,” concluded Florence.
Meeting dates are as follows:
• 13 February from 10am to 12 midday: Wards 71, 83, 84, 85, 89 and 26 (Ward 85 date has been split. 13 February is for the areas of Ward 85 surrounding Princess)
