Drumming enthusiasts invited to a rhythmic event

The EARTH Centre is inviting drumming enthusiasts to come out and enjoy an afternoon of melodic rhythms around a bonfire in celebration of the new season on 27 March.

This annual event, prevented by Covid restriction last year, is hosted every equinox to draw attention to, as well as to honour the transformative effects that come with the Sun’s travel back to the equator, and the changing of the season for what it brings to the land, people and animals.

However, the biggest reason behind this event is to raise funds for the centre as it is solely reliant on public funds to provide equine therapy.

“These special drumming events bring in some financial support at the same time as they allow us to shake things up for ourselves and the horses in a very good way, and allow us to give a little back to our community by creating a time and space where you can simply let go into the rhythm, let your body be moved by the drumming and enjoy the time connecting with like-minded supportive people,” Nicole Ras, the marketing coordinator at the centre explained.

The drum circle is hosted by Harmonics, a loyal group of passionate drummers, who never disappoint in entertaining a crowd.

Nicole added that the drum circle is guided and friendly to all ages. “No musical experience is needed,” she said.
The entry fee to the venue is R150 per adult and R120 per pensioner or child, and this ticket price includes a drum on arrival. Those with their own Djembe drums are welcomed to bring them along.

Lastly, Nicole also advised that hot drinks will be sold on the day, but not food, advising the attendees to bring some snacks along.
