 A meeting between aggrieved community members and a company accused of favouritism was held on 18 March during which the disgruntled party submitted their memorandum of demands.
Natural Value Food, a fresh-produce wholesaler, was the target of protest action when the community accused the business of being biased.

Among the most vital demands, they requested the company to hire 70 per cent nationals and 30 per cent foreign nations on contract; workers are to be paid in accordance with labour laws; workers’ remuneration is to be paid into their bank accounts, not via eWallet; and personal protective equipment (PPE) is to be provided to workers.

Responding to questions by the Northsider, the company has since refuted claims of patronage but is planning to improve where they have gone wrong.
