Wilro Lions hard at work
Throughout the day on Saturday, 10 April, the Wilro Lions worked tirelessly to meet as many needs as they could by putting together a hoard of donations for their existing outreach projects.
Lions Clubs represent the largest service organisation in the world with over 1,4 million members across the globe. Here on the West Rand, we are lucky enough to have several Lions Clubs looking out for their community, including the Wilro Park Lions Club.
In what they have dubbed ‘Lions at Work’, the club has assigned their members different outreach projects to help as many people with as many different things as possible. Members of the Wilro Lions gather regularly at their head office in Roodekrans to sort out donations, plan future projects and ensure that all of their initiatives are running smoothly.

They live by the mantras, ‘We Care’ and ‘Where there is a need, there is a Lion’. Throughout the day on Saturday, 10 April, the Wilro Lions worked tirelessly to meet as many needs as they could by putting together a hoard of donations for their existing outreach projects.
On the latest Lions at Work day, volunteers managed to sort out the following donations (among others):
• 15 Comfort Kits for children with cancer
• 92 Dignity Handbags were packed and will be distributed to desperate women
• Books for the Dorcas Aid book shop
• A school uniform for a high school learner in Krugersdorp
• A car seat for a family in need
• Baby Blessing Hampers for Florida Baby House
• School jerseys for a Durban Deep-based school
• Children’s clothing for St Lawrence’s Children’s Home
• Bird books and indigenous plants for the Walter Sisulu National Botanical Garden
