A pillar of the community passes away
Keith Nash, had a pre-existing condition and died after he collapsed unexpectedly.
Community leader and Constantia Kloof resident, Keith Nash died on Sunday, June 20 after contracting Covid-19. Nash has been described as a committed member of the Roodepoort community. He served as a member of the Rotary Club for 27 years, and as a Roodepoort City councillor.
His daughter, Candia Lonsdale said her father, who had a pre-existing condition, recently contracted Covid. Although he received the vaccine in early June, he collapsed unexpectedly on Sunday and died.
Keith Allen Nash worked in the housing development and sales industries for most of his career. He was heavily involved in his community as a member of FAMSA, SANB, and Night Owls patrol group, and he was a police reservist for 25 years. As a member of the Rotary Club for years, he was involved in charity events that upheld the maintenance of old age and children homes. He also organised outings for underprivileged children.

“My dad was absolutely committed to the service of others. He believed in giving back; to the community, to individuals and to anyone who needed assistance. He was passionate about helping those who could not help themselves, particularly children in need and the elderly,” Candia said.
Nash leaves behind his wife of 53 years, Lorna Nash, three children and three grandchildren. Lonsdale said family was the most important part of her father’s life, and he worked to provide them with every opportunity and experience imaginable. “He always found time to help others as can be seen through the various service organisations he committed himself to. My mom was involved throughout this extensive period of service and supported my dad in every project he was involved in, as well as initiating projects of her own. He was an inspiration to us by how he managed to balance work, family and service to others. He was always very clear – we could do anything we set our minds to!” she concluded.
