Warrant Officer Jacobs in critical condition battling Covid

Jakes Jacobs remains sedated in hospital. Doctors inserted a tube in his right lung after it collapsed.

A warrant officer from the West Rand Flying Squad, Jake Jacobs was put on a ventilator on Friday, June 25 after suffering Covid-19 complications.

Jacobs tested positive for Covid-19 around June 9 and was taken to the hospital on June 16. His sister, Marina van Tonder said his condition fluctuated. “At times he would get better and then worse. He was ventilated on Friday and his oxygen didn’t go up.” She explained that this was the result of the infection not clearing up.

Communications officer for the Honeydew CPF, Michael Steyn described Warrant Officer Jacobs as a dedicated and professional police member. “He is also a great support to us and other community members in and around the area. We are keeping him and his family in our prayers, and wish him a speedy and full recovery.”

Warrant Officer Jacobs is married to Captain Karen Jacobs from the Honeydew Police, and they have two children.
