Anti-bullying on the cards for Mandela Day

Bullying became a high priority for the organisation because Ipeleng Mofokeng, who is a founder of the organisation, survived bullying as a child.

On Mandela Day the Leaders Against Bullying will be dropping off essential items at the Village 2.0 shelter in Bosmont that houses women and children who are survivors of gender-based violence.

The Leaders Against Bullying programme is an Ipeleng Cares Foundation initiative that offers anti-bullying awareness workshops for teachers, parents and learners.

Each month the leaders focus on improving their leadership skills, and one of the skills is to learn to fundraise, which will help them in future when they embark on entrepreneurship.

On Mandela Day they get to fundraise to uplift and inspire others, and this year they have selected the shelter for women and children.

Women and children at the shelter will be treated to a scrumptious meal, and the women will be motivated by a gender-based violence survivor.

Ipeleng Cares Foundation is a not-for-profit company based in Johannesburg, that has been working to identify psychosocial challenges that affect children and find sustainable solutions to them.

Bullying became a high priority for the organisation because Ipeleng Mofokeng, who is a founder of the organisation, survived bullying as a child.

“The programmes can be taken up by a school as a full package, or a tailor-made package to the school’s preference. Parents can also sign up for the leadership programme at their own capacity.

“The tasks assist learners to build strong characters and to transform from victims to leaders,” said Ipeleng.

Applications for 2022 will be open from March 1 to April 30, with the programme commencing in May.

Ipeleng Cares Foundation does not receive government funds or financial assistance, and solely depends on fundraising. A minimal fee is attached to the packages.

“We also offer Funda Futhi textbook-repairing service, where we save schools up to 75% on textbook fees.

“We refurbish textbooks up to a 99.9% usable state from as little as R55. This has also become our stream of fundraising for the organisation, and sponsors can partner with us to assist schools in desperate need,” said Ipeleng.
