Taking action against poverty on Mandela Day requires community leaders with pure and charitable intentions that are guaranteed to advance the well-being of their disadvantaged people.

On Sunday, July 18 community leaders in Muldersdrift honoured Mandela Day as per President Cyril Ramaphosa’s instruction and identified five families around Thembalethu and Video informal settlement as beneficiaries.

According to Patrick, the idea of celebrating Mandela Day in their community was to identify the less fortunate members in the community of Muldersdrift and make a difference in their lives.

“The day was a success as five families were assisted, although we feel that this initiative should continue on a monthly basis. We reminded the community that you can do anything to give back to the community, such as cleaning the neighbourhood and helping the elderly,” said Patrick.
