Free Covid testing stations for the week
"We aim to set up three testing stations at Witpoortjie Pick n Pay and test at least 500 people"
For the past few weeks, the Gauteng Department of Health staff worked tirelessly to ensure as many members of the Roodepoort community were tested for Covid-19.
This is part of their Community Covid Outreach Plan which involves testing stations being put up throughout Roodepoort within areas currently considered as hotspots.
According to Department of Health’s Health Promotion Manager, Given Chauke, they managed to test at least 500 people every week.
“However, on Saturday, July 17 we want to make it massive. We aim to set up three testing stations at Witpoortjie Pick n Pay, and test at least 500 people,” he said.
“We know it’s cold but we want to encourage the community to get tested. We will only be there until 13:00 so the public must ensure they are there on time.”
The Department of Health now aims to expand towards the North of Roodepoort in hopes of testing as many of the Roodepoort community as possible.
This is their Community Outreach Schedule for the following week:
• Thursday, July 22 – Palm Court Superspar, Weltevreden Park (Ward 126)
• Friday, July 23 – Spar Eagle Canyon (Ward 97)
• Saturday, July 24 – Checkers Hyper, 14th Avenue (Ward 126)
The Department of Health encourages members of the public to make use of these testing stations in order to contribute to the safety of the community.
