Biker knocked down

The biker was lying on the road, a few metres away from his bike. Not too far from him, a silver Suzuki had come to a halt after a collision with an Isuzu bakkie.

A biker was knocked off his motorcycle on the corner of JG Strydom Road and Cornelius Street in Weltevreden Park. Traffic was backed up on July 27 at the scene where the biker was lying on the road, a few metres away from his bike. Not too far from him, a silver Suzuki had come to a halt after a collision with an Isuzu bakkie.

Annamarie Sutton, an bystander at the scene alleged that the driver of the Suzuki skipped a red light, hit the biker and swerved into the Isuzu. “We were across the road and saw everything happen. We stopped and just wanted to see if the guy on the bike was okay.”

The driver of the Suzuki, Jacqueline Mostert was visibly in shock and said she could not recall anything. Mostert, who was sitting in her car with all the airbags popped open, said, “I just feel I can’t move my legs,” she explained as they waited for paramedics to arrive on the scene.

Darius Basson from ER24 explained that the biker had sustained slight injuries. “He is pretty much okay; we are going to take him to the hospital for observation to make sure there are no fractures or anything else wrong in his ankle. He is stable.”
