Elderly woman killed in Thursday afternoon Ontdekkers accident
Elderly couple among the only injured in three-vehicle collision
An elderly couple have been involved in a fatal accident on August 12.
They were travelling along Ontdekkers Road just before 16:00 when their vehicle was involved in an accident near William Nicol Drive. Paramedics arrived on the scene to find one car had been rear-ended by two vehicles behind it. The elderly couple, who were in the rear-most of the three-vehicle chain, were assisted on scene before being rushed to hospital.
The 82-year-old male occupant and his 74-year-old companion both received treatment in hospital after sustaining critical injuries but sadly, the woman succumbed to her injuries. A total of three vehicles were involved in the accident but fortunately, occupants of the other two vehicles escaped unharmed. The cause of the incident is unknown and it is currently under investigation.
