Get active for the Bible cause/ Spread the Word by getting active

All entrants can run, cycle or walk the distance of their choice wherever suitable.

The Bible Society of South Africa, which aims to provide affordable Bibles for everyone in their own language and in suitable formats, will be hosting their second annual virtual event in efforts to provide as many Bibles as possible for people in need.

According to the society’s Head of Communication and Marketing, Francois Sieberhagen, last year’s Virtual Run and Walk for Hope event was incredibly successful with over 2 000 runners, walkers and cyclists taking part in their first-ever virtual event.

Through contributions they were able to provide 2 000 Bibles for people in need, as well as 2 000 sets of Bible-based literacy booklets for children.

“This year we want to go bigger and better! Our 2021 Run and Cycle for Hope event will take place on the weekend of August 21 and 22, and will continue to support the Bible Society’s goal of distributing 2 000 000 Bibles in celebration of our 200th year,” Francois said.

“Due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic and the rampant spread of the virus, as well as current restrictions in place, we are hosting this year’s Run and Cycle for Hope event virtually again. Your safety is our number-one concern.”

All entrants can run, cycle or walk the distance of their choice wherever suitable. The Bible Society encourages congregations to support this event, following and adhering to Covid-19 regulations, to enable them to make the Word of God available to local communities that do not have the means to purchase Bibles.

“The event is inclusive, so whether you enjoy a casual stroll every day, or whether you are a serious runner, you have an opportunity to complete the distance of your choice over the entire two days. There is something for everyone, so make it a weekend for the whole family and enter today,” Francois said.

Every entry will ensure that the Bible Society is able to alleviate Bible poverty and address the literacy need in our country as part of the 2 Million Bibles project. For more information, please visit www.2millionbibles.co.za.
