In Memoriam: “We salute them, with this we fondly remember them. Their names will forever be engraved in our hearts. May their souls rest in peace.”
Constable Matshidiso Pamla Senne, fondly known to colleagues as ‘Senn’, was born in December 1989, and joined the ranks of the South African Police Service at age 26. After completing her training at the Police Training College in Pretoria, Constable Senne was placed at Roodepoort Police Station where she worked in the Client Services Centre and as of January 2018 joined the sector teams carrying out visible policing duties.

“She was a dedicated police officer who hardly ever took leave; she was always there when the community needed her. She was always helpful and friendly towards all her colleagues and was a fast learner, completing numerous courses within the police. Her tour of duty serving her community was five years and ninety-seven days when she sadly passed away of natural causes on June 5,” stated Roodepoort Police spokesperson, Captain Juanita Yorke.
Captain Makondele Mundalamo was born in February 1963 and joined the police ranks in July 1985. He went to the Municipal Police unit in Meadowlands and was then placed at Florida Police Station in March 1994. He transferred to Roodepoort Police Station just three months later where he would serve until transferred to the specialised FCS Unit in Krugersdorp in March 2002.

Captain Mundalamo was awarded the SAPS Centenary Medal in 2013, FIFA 2010 World Cup Support Medal as well as medals for his 10, 20 and 30 years of service periods. He completed numerous courses within the police and obtained his National Diploma in Police Administration in July 1997, his National Senior B-Tech degree in Policing in May 2005, and made his way through the ranks, becoming Captain in September 2008. He had served the community for over 30 years when he passed on on July 15.”
Lieutenant Colonel Temeki Sekgala, commander of the FCS Unit based in the Roodepoort CBD said, “Mundas was a very special, dedicated officer, willing to learn from other members. He was respectful of both his seniors and juniors alike. His passing is a huge loss to this unit and it will definitely affect the operational part of our unit. We will sorely miss him as a person and as an officer.”
Colonel Lukas Nkosi, acting Roodepoort Police station commander said, “The members all leave behind a loving family and their family in blue. My heart goes out to their families and I would like to quote the Psalm of David, Psalm 23: ‘The lord is my Shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quite waters and he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for His name’s sake. Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil for You are with me. Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever’. May these families find comfort in this difficult time. Amen.”
