SPCA hospital closes its doors

The SPCA hospital will be closing its doors due to financial constraints

Tragic news surfaced in the animal rescue community when the Roodepoort/ Krugersdorp branch of the SPCA announced they would be closing their hospital’s doors. According to their social media pages, they will be closing the SPCA welfare hospital from September 6.

The reason for the closure is financial difficulties, and not receiving government funding for the service. “The future of the Roodepoort/ Krugersdorp SPCA is of the utmost importance,” said manager Mandy Cattanach. “In 2017 when the Krugersdorp SPCA closed their doors, the Roodepoort SPCA took over that area, which is vast. There are thousands of animals that need our protection. The Roodepoort/ Krugersdorp SPCA has to remain operational.

“I would like to reassure the public that the Roodepoort/ Krugersdorp SPCA Inspectorate Department and kennels will still be fully operational.”
