Opening of swimming pools around the corner
Communities are encouraged to celebrate summer responsibly while investing in their health.
With summertime on the horizon, many of us were looking forward to some fun in the sun. Many residents without a swimming pool would be happy to learn that the MMC for Community Development, Councillor Margaret Arnolds is just as excited.
That’s why she recently announced that 42 of the City of Joburg’s swimming pools will be opening on October 1.

According to Margaret, major upgrades to 10 swimming pools were commissioned by the City, meaning that these pools will only be ready for opening in the next season. Due to vandalism, an additional three pools will remain closed but are receiving attention.
Communities are encouraged to celebrate summer responsibly while investing in their health by being physically active.
“Bathers will make use of City swimming pools under the prescribed lockdown level 3 regulations, meaning that reduced numbers will be allowed at all facilities,” she said.
“On October 1 between 11:00 and 13:00, the Roodepoort pool will offer an array of water activities like Learn to Swim, water aerobics, water safety and water volleyball to name a few – all in the spirit of the summer season.”
The following pools in Region C are due for opening on October 1:
• Florida North (Marthinus du Plessis Park, Ontdekkers Road, Florida North)
• Roodepoort (Exner Street, Roodepoort)
• Davidsonville (Mitchell Street, Davidsonville)
• Little Falls Resort (Falls Road, Little Falls)
Get your hats and bathing suits ready because summertime is just around the corner.
