Zandspruit residents get their hands dirty

Residents started putting up tunnels and working the soil to start vegetable gardens

Community members and residents of Zandspruit are working together to grow fresh produce at Realeboga Creche. CEO of Zandspruit Youth Development, Tebogo Mangena and several residents have started putting up vegetable tunnels that they hope to turn into gardens.

“It is still a work in progress but this past week, on August 31, we started with the tunnels and we hope to start planting seeds in the next week. We encourage community members who can, to join us and assist us so that we can complete the vegetable garden.”

He said they hoped the vegetable garden would go a long way in not only assisting the community but also teaching children about agriculture. This also provides unemployed youth in that community the opportunity to develop their skills or learn new ones that can extend into businesses.
