Major clean-up in Weltevreden Park

On Saturday September 4 a team of workers set out on a major clean-up project in Weltevreden Park. The crew of 19 tackled JG Strydom Road from Jim Fouché Road to clean the gutters and storm water drains.
Dave Baxter, chairperson of the Panorama Residents Association said prior to the project they had a meeting with an official from JRA where a number of their issues were raised. He said the agency committed to bringing a team on Monday September 6 to collect all the grass and sand that had been removed.

“The area covered on the first day was JG Strydom Road between 9th Avenue and Springhaas Road. This was only the beginning and we are looking at cleaning JG Strydom Road all the way to Jim Fouché Road over the next few weeks.”
Baxter added that the project also created employment for the workers who were hired. He urged members to donate to the PRA, as this money is not only used for such projects in the communities, but goes towards paying workers. “Areas that donate the most will get assisted the most, as well as areas with more residents.”
