Piece by piece Florida South residents take care of business

"Every little bit helps to make the suburb cleaner"

Up close one piece may seem insignificant but from afar, the collective can be appreciated.

Taking a few moments outside their home to clear dirt from the curb, Florida South Residents Association (FSRA) showed that the first steps to a clean suburb starts with them. At 10:00 on Saturday, September 4, residents grabbed their shovels, weed cutters, brooms and plastic bags and did their little bit to contribute to the collective maintenance of the suburb. Focusing just on the outside of their premises, residents set an example to anyone complaining about the filth in their area.

FSRA encompasses the area everything south of the railway line from Westlake Road, down Albertina Sisulu Road until it forks after Donovan MacDonald Retirement Village. “FSRA would like to thank all our neighbours and Fidelity ADT that came out and took part in the spring day clean-up. I would just like to remind our residents that ensuring our safety is not always the responsibility of our security companies, patrollers or police. We as residents can also play our part by keeping our areas clean. Thanks again and keep those kerbs and pavements clean,” said FSRA chairman, Rodney Churchyard.
