Eleven injured in Monday morning minibus-taxi crash along Ontdekkers Road
One man in critical condition airlifted to hospital
A minibus taxi crashed into a wall after the driver had lost control on Ontdekkers Road on September 13.
The accident occurred a short while before 08:00 and left 11 people injured. Paramedics arrived on the scene to find most of the minibus taxi’s occupants outside the vehicle, with two remaining inside. The patients were assessed and found to have sustained moderate injuries, with one of the 11 left in a critical state.

Reports from a bystander who witnessed the incident said a car had broken down in the middle of Ontdekkers Road. The taxi, which was travelling westwards in the direction of Krugersdorp, swerved in order to miss the stricken vehicle before clipping another vehicle and ramping the island. The taxi finally came to a halt against the fence of a property on the Ontdekkers Service Road close to the corner of Wattle Street.

“The patients were treated, and the critically injured man was provided with advanced life support interventions. Once treated he was airlifted by a private medical helicopter to a nearby hospital while the remaining patients were transported by ambulance,” confirmed ER24 spokesperson, Russel Meiring. Authorities attended the scene and the incident is currently under investigation.
