Residents share their thoughts during voter registration weekend
Residents shared their sentiments around the elections during voter registration weekend
Several residents came out and did their civic duty during registration weekend on September 18 and 19.
While it was clear that many had their own uncertainties about the current political climate or even for whom they would vote, one thing remained clear – not voting was out of the question. Sentiments about the upcoming elections varied from uncertain to optimistic.

Rene Hoon said, “I think the upcoming elections are going to make history. So many changes and so many variables have been caused by Covid-19 that it will be quite a different election, and there will be a lot more voters. People want a lot of change.”
Another resident said the upcoming elections were very important. “I came to register because if I don’t then I can’t complain. You want to make your vote count to improve service delivery etc. I am very positive about the upcoming elections. People who really want to make a difference should come out to register and vote. They should be interested in what is going on at a local level.”
