Local NPO gears up for anti-bullying month
Bullying became a high priority for the organisation because Ipeleng Mofokeng, who is a founder of the organisation, survived bullying as a child.
October is anti-bullying month and the Ipeleng Cares Foundation (ICF) leaders against bullying are kick-starting it with a special hike at the Walter Sisulu National Botanical Garden (WSNBG).
According to Ipeleng Mofokeng, who is a founder of the organisation, the leaders will do a hike, facilitated by hiking enthusiast Adrie Hanekom, and lastly some stretch exercises facilitated by one of the leaders against bullying, Tsebo Mofokeng.
“The leaders will gather on Saturday, October 2 at 08:00, and we invite all children from seven to 18 years to be part of this fun- filled activity, mingle with the leaders and make new friends,” said Ipeleng.
Members of the public who are interested in booking for themselves and/ or their children are advised to WhatsApp the word ‘Hike’ to 073 911 5460.
Bookings close on Thursday, September 30 at midday and all Covid-19 regulations will be strictly followed.
Since bullying is on the rise and schools need to prepare sooner rather than later, ICF has a SGB anti-bullying policy guidelines workshop on offer.

Schools can sign up for a three-hour workshop where anti-bullying policy guidelines that are in line with the National School Safety Framework, South African Schools Acts and The Gauteng School Safety policy will be addressed.
The workshop comes in two phases, with phase one being an online two-minutes school safety survey by learners, educators and non-educator staff, followed by the three-hour workshop.
Schools qualify for a 40% discount if they book and pay in October, and workshops will run from October 5 to November 30, and commence again in January till March 2022.
