Race your way to Las Vegas

South Africans do not require any racing experience to enter and don't have to own a PC or console.

Logitech G and McLaren are bringing their new era of racing to the South African market. The much-anticipated global e-racing competition ‘Logitech McLaren G-Challenge’, which was previously only open to online qualifiers, has given South Africa a Wildcard route to the Logitech G Grand Finals weekend in Las Vegas.

This means anyone can enter by visiting one of two mall activations in Gauteng and attempt to clock the fastest lap time to win an all-expenses paid trip to the finals weekend, and compete for the title of Grand Champion.

“We’re thrilled to have been selected as one of the 2021 Wildcard regions,” Alexander Olls, Logitech G Marketing Manager, South Africa said.

“Now, more South Africans from all walks of life will have the opportunity not only to experience the breathtaking excitement of racing a McLaren 720s GT3 around a lap in a fully built Logitech G e-racing rig, but they could win a once in a lifetime e-racing grand final weekend in Las Vegas.”

Unlike online qualifications, Wildcard events are physical competitions that aim to build local engagement and encourage communities to participate in the challenge. Anyone looking to enter can visit Centurion Mall and Clearwater Mall, where Logitech G will simultaneously host Wildcard racing events for the whole week – from October 22 until October 29.

“South Africans do not require any racing experience to enter and don’t have to own a PC or console. We’ll provide the racing rig – all players have to do is arrive at one of the Wildcard malls and set the best lap time. Best of all, people can attempt the race as many times as they want.”

Logitech will announce the winner of the Wildcard event on Monday, November 1.

Entries for online qualifications are still open. Visit www.logitechgchallenge.com for more information.
