Meet the ANC’s Ward 70 candidate, Bradley Ricardo Campbell

He is running for Ward 70 which include Florida, Florida Hills, Florida North, Florida Park, Florida Lake, Fleurhof, Robertville, Consolidated Main Reef Gold Mine and Rand leases Gold Mine.

Bradley Ricardo Campbell, 53, ANC local government elections candidate councillor for Ward 70, recently answered questions regarding the upcoming elections.

Q: What would you do differently to the current ward councillor?
A: I would take a different approach to resolving the issues within the ward by firstly attempting to ensure that service delivery is approached with more urgency and efficacy. Resources with an action-orientated attitude and approach be appointed, open communication channels, accountability and hefty penalties/ fines for illegal dumping. To ensure that public parks and spaces are attended to and maintained frequently, where children can play freely and residents can enjoy their surroundings without fear of harassment, illegal drug trading/ usage and theft.

Q: How have you been involved in the community?
A: I have been the Chairperson of the Fleurhof Community Policing Forum (Fleurhof CPF) as well as the Community Forum for the past five years.

I volunteer my time towards making a difference in the area in the following ways:
• Safety and security
• Establishment of a First Aid and Trauma Counselling unit under the Fleurhof CPF banner
• Eradication of illicit drug dealing and usage, especially in our open areas and parks
• Illegal dumping
• Open area and park clean-ups
• Community engagement to report suspicious behaviour and activity

Q: What past experiences make you uniquely qualified for this role?
A: As a resident of Ward 70 for over 40 years, with no prior political exposure, I understand the frustration, and my past experience with no service delivery, electrical and water outages, potholes, little or no feedback, street lights, noise and air pollution. I feel this makes me uniquely qualified for this role, as I know and understand my own personal frustration with service delivery or lack thereof, and feel that I can make a significant difference within the Ward.

Q: What is your vision for your ward?
A: • A cleaner and safer environment
• Prompt and consistent service delivery
• Delivery on promises
• Promotion of local business

Q: How do you feel this vision can be achieved?
A: • Community involvement
• Deployment of action-orientated and honourable resources who are committed to service delivery

Q: How does your party mirror your personal beliefs?
A: • A pledge to do and be better
• To deploy honourable and competent local leaders
• To deploy action-orientated resources who are committed to service delivery
• Consistent and prompt service delivery
• Safer and healthier communities
• Stimulation and support of local businesses

Q: In 50 words or less, tell the residents of your ward why they should vote for you.
A: I am asking for your vote, as a new candidate councillor, please give me a chance to prove to you that I do as I promise, I understand the issues in the ward, and I will strive to continue making necessary and marked improvements within the ward.
