Final salute for WW II tanks

The tanks will be restored and displayed at their new home

The M.O.T.H Warrior Shellhole in Muldersdrift bid farewell to two of their tanks from World War II last week. The display tanks, which garnered attraction and curiosity, used to be visible to those driving past on the N14.

Phil McMahon, an executive of the voluntary association said the visibility of the tanks had reduced recently. “The tanks will be moved to other shellholes where they will be repainted and rejuvenated before being displayed again. Both of them are from World War II, and the second tank was moved in the last couple of days.”

McMahon revealed that an anti-aircraft gun, also from World War II, would be moved to the M.O.T.H headquarters in Durban soon.

Memorabilia from the war remain on display to the public. “There is a lot of memorabilia in the meeting hall and this is open to the public on every second Sunday of the month,” McMahon added.
