Words of wisdom for the community
Even though he is retired, he refuses to let his life experience and knowledge go to waste.

he speaks, he does so with wisdom. When he helps, he does so with kindness. And when he dreams, he dreams of a better future.
This is none other than the experienced Mohamed Darsot, 78, who has been dedicating his time and resources to sharing his knowledge with those eager to find the secret to a meaningful life.
This life enthusiast holds three degrees and is highly qualified in the accounting and legal field. He is a Certified Accountant, Commissioner of Oaths and an Advocate of the High Court of South Africa. He has worked in government for 20 years in a senior capacity as Director, and retired as Deputy Director.
In his time he has been the chairman and executive member of various institutions. He has also played an active part in ensuring the installation of a substation, speed humps and stop signs, as well as fixing potholes.
Even though he is retired, he refuses to let his life experience and knowledge go to waste. This is why he started writing inspirational booklets, called Words of Wisdom which he distributes for free to various libraries, schools and educational institutions.
He released the first booklet in January last year, the second one in April and is currently working on the third.
“I have been interested in writing for a long time. It’s like my hobby. I have identified the need for these words of wisdom in my community. Because I have always had a passion for helping people, I would like to help them with this – something they can carry around with them and read whenever they want to learn some more about life in general,” Mohamed said.
“These booklets are educational and address general life skills and experience. They will leave their readers knowledgeable and able to handle the various problems they may face in their lives. One of my favourites is ‘Education is the wing with which you can fly to Heaven’. Each idiom can be analysed in detail. It has answers to various life problems. The booklets will also increase the reader’s thinking ability. They offer so many advantages and benefits. All ages can read and benefit from them.”
He went on to say that the information, quotes and idioms are gathered and collected from various sources such as books, proverbs, and famous sayings to name just a few. Mohamed hopes to enrich the community by making its members knowledgeable, increase their reading, provide answers to life’s issues and make them self-sufficient.
He wants to make his readers eager and hungry for knowledge, and trusts that his legacy will live on through his words of wisdom.
“My past experiences have taught me to be helpful and to give back to the community. By giving knowledge and information you strengthen your own knowledge. We owe it to the community,” Mohamed concluded.
