Local NPC make women a priority

A non-profit company (NPC) based in Little Falls that has been developing gradually has announced that as of November 1 they will be known officially as the Woman of Stature Foundation.
The company was registered on December 10, 2019 to address the socioeconomic challenges that are prevalent in South Africa.
According to founder and CEO, Charlotte du Plessis, the need is far greater than they could ever have imagined especially as their primary objective is to support women in business – particularly women who have been struck down by circumstances beyond their control such as the Covid-19 pandemic.
“These women have worked their entire lives to build a business, only for it to be wiped out in one foul swoop,” said Charlotte.
She has first-hand experience of such devastation and that is the reason behind her passion for helping other women suffering a similar fate.
Her personal story is about her life spiralling out of control because of anxiety, panic attacks and a deep depression, which almost destroyed her and her family.
This has translated into her purpose which today can been seen in the work she does to help women in similar circumstances.
The foundation hosts several events during the year to raise much-needed funds, but this alone cannot sustain the work they do.
According to Charlotte, they desperately need the community at large to support them by making a monthly contribution of as little as R50 to help raise sufficient funds so that they can help these women back from a very deep, dark place.
“It doesn’t help giving money because this doesn’t solve their predicament; it is only a temporary solution.
“The foundation considers each case on merit and manages donor funds very strictly.
“We have developed several programmes that teach skills to apply in their businesses, which may have been lacking, and why they find themselves in a difficult situation.
“Where the situation requires financial intervention, and if we have the financial capacity, we assist with food vouchers and accommodation, but this is only in the most desperate of circumstances, and with the required proof of financial position.
“We do not pay debt or arrears, but we will provide the necessary assistance reasonable to the circumstances,” explained Charlotte.
