Solemn farewell for Robert Stander
The beloved member of the CPF and Muldersdrift community was laid to rest
There is an old folklore that when it rains during a funeral, it is a symbol of blessings or a sign of good luck. On the wet morning of November 8, Robert Stander was laid to rest at the cemetery on Larsens Road, Muldersdrift.

Stander was described as kind and extremely helpful. His family said he was always ready to help anyone in need, and he was the kind of person to give his last torn work pants to anyone else with less. His daughter, Zanelise Stander wrote, “Dad would always ask how things were going and he always knew when something was wrong. In my heart, we will always dance to Black Coffee.”

His fiancée, Mariaan Brits said Robert was nothing less than an angel from God to her. “Your heart was innocent and golden. You always put others first and yourself last in line. You gave your life for me and your dog to be safe. Your love for me was never-ending. I will never be able to replace you! I love you so dearly.”

The funeral was attended by family members as well as members of the community and the CPF. The deceased was an active patroller for the Muldersdrift CPF. He was fatally shot during a house robbery on November 2.

Communications officer for Muldersdrift Police, Sergeant Mulalo Ndou confirmed that a case has been opened. “A docket of house robbery and murder has been opened. No suspect has been arrested but investigations are continuing.”
