Superstar apprearance marks grand re-opening of Iron Fist boxing gym
Gym offers more than just combat training, but budget-friendly options to help regain fitness levels
In combat or lifestyle, mental and physical strength is the by-product of turning jelly into concrete.
Reborn in Georgina Street, Iron Fist Boxing Club is back to build the finest human specimens and create a space for talent to flourish. Forced into hibernation by the global health panic, James Britz has reemerged, inviting the public to sample the atmosphere in the gym during their grand reopening held on November 1.

Fighting from an early age, James enjoyed a brief professional career before taking up coaching full time from 2018. “The passion of seeing my knowledge being passed on and helping people live a healthier life drive me to keep pushing on and prepared me to re-open as soon as I could,” said James, grateful to be smashing gloves and pads with fighters of all ages.
Lending his star power to the gym’s grand return was IBO and WBA Minimumweight, and WBC, WBA and IBF Light-Flyweight world champion, Hekkie Budler. “Boxing is a sport where you can come from very little and succeed. Boxing teaches you valuable life skills and with the right guidance from someone like James, young people especially can grow as individuals,” said the humble champion, as he let young fans pose with his impressive collection of belts.

While success is the reward for hard work, the social interaction of the gym is what amplifies its characters. “The boxing gym and trainer act as another family and support system. My trainers try to reform deviant youth and help troubled or disadvantaged ones. We all strive to instil motivation and confidence in our athletes, and help them with goal setting,” explained James.
Iron Fist is more than just a boxing gym though, as they offer personal training, cardio sessions, weights, circuit courses as well as diet and nutrition guidance for men and women of all ages. New members are free to train alone, be paired with someone of the same fitness and skill level, or even train as couples or parents wanting a unique bonding experience with their children.

As with every boxing gym, the long-term goal of creating a champion is the ultimate dream. “We want to grow amateur boxers to be unstoppable in their professional careers, to develop boxers to see for themselves that the sky is the limit,” stated James confidently. No fighter makes it to the top alone, and Iron Fist’s team spirit is that vital support structure, as James concluded, “The boxing community here is there to celebrate your wins with you and pick you up when you’re down”.
