Curro Wilgeheuwel learner first in equestrian event

In her age group of nine years and younger Lead Rein, Hayley received her Sanesa and Gauteng badges for her impressive first-place achievement.

Horse riding offers much more than equestrian know-how and puts children in touch with nature as they are naturally attracted to the animals. It is also a desirable alternative to TV-watching, internet-surfing, or just ‘hanging out’.

Curro Academy Wilgeheuwel Independent School Grade R learner Hayley Meintjies and her horse Eddie recently had a successful run at the South African National Equestrian School Association (Sanesa) National Championships.

Out of five disciplines she entered, the six-year-old who hails from Willowbrook placed first in Performance Riding out of 26 riders, tenth in Equitation, and seventh in Working riding.

In her age group of nine years and younger Lead Rein, Hayley received her Sanesa and Gauteng badges for her impressive first-place achievement.

Hayley who only started riding a year ago is trained by Jessica de Wit from the Duo Serenity Stables, where they provide lessons for children, teens and adults from beginner to advanced levels, as well as provide stabling for horses and ponies, and much more.

“How incredible is this; Hayley only started riding a year ago and what an achievement by this team.

“Congrats to everyone, thanks to our awesome grooms for making sure Eddie looks beautiful, and to the awesome parents and support team – you are great,” said Jessica.
