Three pedestrians killed in two separate weekend accidents

Patients declared dead at scenes in Witpoortjie and Florida Park

Three pedestrians have been killed in two separate incidents across Roodepoort.

On Friday evening, a man crashed into two pedestrians while on Sunday afternoon, a women was killed when she was struck by a vehicle on Ontdekkers Road.

At roughly 19:00 on December 3, a charcoal-coloured Volkswagen hatchback struck two men at the corner of Corlett Aveune and Ham Street. First responders arrived at the scene to find the pedestrians to be in a critical condition. Sadly, the men succumbed to their injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene.

Members of West Suburbs Neighbourhood Watch noted that the driver of the Volkswagen was questioned by authorities and escorted to a police station.

The corner of Ontdekkers Road and Golf Club Terrace was the scene of the Sunday evening (December 5) accident. A woman believed to be in her thirties was killed after she struck by a vehicle at roughly 17:30.

“Medics assessed the woman and found that she had sustained numerous injuries. CPR and advanced life support interventions were immediately initiated but unfortunately, no vital signs returned and the woman was declared dead”.

The drivers of the vehicles involved in both accidents escaped with no injures and local authorities attended both scenes with further investigations underway.
