Florida Police station commander sends out Christmas wishes to the community

The following is a special message from Colonel Tsotetsi

The Florida Police wish the community of Florida a safe festive season. The Florida Police station commander, Colonel Amos Lefa Tsotetsi warned any criminal to expect the full might of the law.

Colonel Tsotetsi writes:

“As we celebrate the festive season, it is important to be very vigilant as criminals also want to celebrate by stealing from law-abiding community members. Florida Police will continue operational duties throughout the festive season to keep crime levels to the satisfaction of the community as per our Community Orientated Strategy. In the spirit of the season, I pay tribute to the service of every member of Florida Police with appreciation. I pray that the Lord God Almighty bless all the law-enforcement agencies and emergency services with His protective arm as they render their duties during this festive season.

I would also like to thank the Florida Community Policing Forum, patrollers, PRASA, law-enforcement agencies and the Florida Security (Force Multipliers) Forum for their continued support including all the neighbourhood block watches. Thanks to the Reservists and the ward councillor for their assistance at all times. We will have traffic control roadblocks jointly with Metro Police, so motorists must make sure that they are safe on the road and do not contravene any laws.

Our biggest challenge this year has been domestic violence and liquor in the informal settlements. These consume more and more of the police’s time. We will continue to shut down illegal taverns and shebeens. That is why we will be out in full force to fight any acts of crime in our communities. We plead with our residents to celebrate the festive season responsibly and avoid drinking and driving.

To the community I am saying, “You enhance our Police Station by being eyes where we cannot see and ears where we cannot hear. We are also grateful to all the churches on Divine Intervention Approach (DIA) that adopted the station throughout the year. Your moral and spiritual support gave us courage. All residents of the Florida policing precinct are encouraged to celebrate responsibly and to remain vigilant. I wish everybody a very merry Christmas and a safe, happy, fulfilling new year ahead. Be assured that in 2022 we will continue to show criminals that crime will not prevail.”
